about

I started writing this album in the Fall of 2013 while on my 1st tour of the United States. I remember sitting in my friends living room in Urbana (or was it Champaign?) drinking White Russians + smoking pot listening to beats + thinking I should probably get serious about finishing something. It took 2 years to complete + features stellar features from all parties involved, including an ever rare verse from the beat smith himself Montana Macks. It also was the 1st project that I felt things were moving forward a bit, as we saw a little bit of press, including a year end nod in Reader for "Milwaukee Ave".

I wish I remembered more of the recording process itself but looking at the notes from when it 1st dropped, I know for a fact that I owe a lot (and maybe an apology or 2 lol) to Elton Cheung, Jeff Jackson, Kevin Cutler + Macks. They were so patient + were invaluable in getting me to knuckle down + finish this. It's tough to listen for me at points because I know how I would approach some of these records now but I appreciate it for the baseline it provided me as I've approached the projects I've worked on since.

I especially hope you enjoy the bonus songs we chose to include w/ Swords, Troy + Jordan. These were recorded around the same time I was making Pigeons & Waffles for a possible SCC release + we didn't want to wait any longer for people to hear them!

Happy listening,

Rich + Macks
